Pare Patcharapa’s new set of paintings has been developed technically and conceptually after her previous work, The Leftovers, which was about the love for the departed. This time, Lovers, was born out of the feeling of mourning she had for the people she’s encountered with. The bond woven through the shared ideology, belief, and expression has become the feeling of loss, emptiness, and spiraling after it ends. She defines these feelings towards them all as love.
The artist has created this work of oil painting on 19 wooden planks, showcasing them on the wall to deliver the first part of the message of Have you ever been in love?. Each plank is used as a memo of the atmosphere or a memory or a mere repeated routine. What time brings in each day may be something repetitive or monotonous, or unexpected events such as meeting someone new, or even falling in love that shakes one’s heart. Asking how they've been. The beginning. The feelings towards unconditional love.
We cannot determine at what point love begins, or with whom from what class. We cannot determine at what point that same love stops, freezes, or dissolves. We cannot expect love to stay as long as we want, for love and politics begins with a million little things, small yet dense, faithful to the freedom to feel and to love equally.
